Description:

• Oura is seeking a Senior AI Scientist to join their team and lead the development of generative AI-powered features for next-generation health products.
• The role involves designing and optimizing generative AI models, including LLMs, VAEs, and diffusion models, specifically for applications in the health and wellness domain.
• Responsibilities include developing evaluation frameworks, metrics, and high-quality datasets to assess model effectiveness, with a focus on reliability, interpretability, and clinical relevance.
• The candidate will systematically monitor and refine AI models using real-world performance data, user feedback, and A/B testing.
• Collaboration with other scientists, engineers, and product teams is essential to integrate AI-driven features into Oura’s products efficiently.
• The role requires staying updated on advancements in generative AI and experimenting with new techniques to maintain Oura’s technological edge.
• Safeguards against bias, hallucinations, and misinformation must be implemented to ensure AI models uphold transparency, fairness, and user privacy.
• This position is remote within the US, with a strong preference for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Requirements:

• A PhD in computer science, AI, machine learning, biomedical engineering, or related fields with at least 1 year of work experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of work experience is required.
• Industrial experience in developing and deploying generative AI models into production, including LLMs, VAEs, GANs, and diffusion models, is necessary.
• A minimum of 3 years of solid programming experience in Python and familiarity with code collaboration tools such as git and peer review is required.
• Experience using ML frameworks like PyTorch for at least 3 years is essential, with edge AI optimization experience being a significant plus.
• A passion for generative AI applications in the health and wellness domain is desired.
• Candidates should possess a pragmatic can-do attitude and a delivery-focused mindset, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
• Good asynchronous communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to accommodate occasional off-hour meetings to collaborate with Oura’s European teams.
