Description:
Oura is seeking a Senior AI Scientist to join their team and lead the development of generative AI-powered features for next-generation health products.
The role involves designing and optimizing generative AI models, including LLMs, VAEs, and diffusion models, specifically for applications in the health and wellness domain.
Responsibilities include developing evaluation frameworks, metrics, and high-quality datasets to assess model effectiveness, with a focus on reliability, interpretability, and clinical relevance.
The candidate will systematically monitor and refine AI models using real-world performance data, user feedback, and A/B testing.
Collaboration with other scientists, engineers, and product teams is essential to integrate AI-driven features into Oura’s products efficiently.
The role requires staying updated on advancements in generative AI and experimenting with new techniques to maintain Oura’s technological edge.
Safeguards against bias, hallucinations, and misinformation must be implemented to ensure AI models uphold transparency, fairness, and user privacy.
This position is remote within the US, with a strong preference for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Requirements:
A PhD in computer science, AI, machine learning, biomedical engineering, or related fields with at least 1 year of work experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of work experience is required.
Industrial experience in developing and deploying generative AI models into production, including LLMs, VAEs, GANs, and diffusion models, is necessary.
A minimum of 3 years of solid programming experience in Python and familiarity with code collaboration tools such as git and peer review is required.
Experience using ML frameworks like PyTorch for at least 3 years is essential, with edge AI optimization experience being a significant plus.
A passion for generative AI applications in the health and wellness domain is desired.
Candidates should possess a pragmatic can-do attitude and a delivery-focused mindset, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Good asynchronous communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to accommodate occasional off-hour meetings to collaborate with Oura’s European teams.
