Description:
Kickstarter is seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer II to join their team and help deliver great experiences for Kickstarter creators and backers.
The product development team builds the platform that helps bring creative projects to life, consisting of engineers, designers, data analysts, and community specialists.
The role involves driving the technical direction of the Kickstarter platform and acting as a liaison between the mobile team and the rest of engineering.
Responsibilities include writing well-tested software, estimating task complexity, guiding team execution of projects, identifying technical opportunities, participating in code reviews, being part of the on-call rotation, and mentoring junior teammates.
Requirements:
Candidates must have deep, extensive professional experience in Android development, specifically with Java, Kotlin, and GraphQL.
Familiarity with iOS development is a bonus.
Excellent communication and time management skills are required.
Experience in mentoring other engineers, including pair programming and knowledge sharing, is essential.
Candidates should have experience designing and building performant and scalable systems that balance user needs, business requirements, and resource constraints.
A pragmatic approach to writing well-tested, maintainable code is necessary.
Candidates should value knowledge sharing, personal growth, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
Empathy for creators and understanding the challenges of the creative process is important.
