Description:
The Senior Android Engineer will work on Reddit’s UI Platform team to deliver a cohesive, modern, and accessible experience across all platforms.
The role involves bringing best UI/UX practices to Android's 100M DAUs worldwide and establishing standards to enhance development quality.
Responsibilities include driving development on Reddit’s cross-platform design system, evolving the UI framework, and shaping the future of Android development at Reddit.
Tasks include pushing accessibility goals forward, collaborating with product and design teams, driving adoption of Jetpack Compose, and building a technical foundation for rapid experimentation.
The engineer will also provide support on complex Android development issues and focus on continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical expertise.
5+ years of professional software development experience in user-facing Android mobile native applications using Java or Kotlin.
Strategic thinker with a passion for scalable, well-designed software and experience leading large projects requiring cross-team collaborations.
Proficiency in modern Android development frameworks like Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines.
Entrepreneurial spirit, self-directed, innovative, and experienced in working with cross-functional teams to deliver great user experiences.
