Description:

Vanta is seeking a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer to help shape its AI offerings and improve the performance of AI systems.
The role involves setting the technical strategy for end-to-end ML/AI architecture and forming the core AI team for building and shipping AI applications.
The AI team aims to revolutionize security and compliance programs by streamlining the Q&A process in security reviews and providing actionable insights based on business context.
Responsibilities include conceptualizing, designing, and evaluating AI/ML solutions from both platform and product perspectives.
The engineer will collect, analyze, and synthesize data findings to enhance AI system performance through training, fine-tuning, and RLHF.
Collaboration with product teams to define strategies and drive directions for Vanta’s AI offerings is essential.
The role requires working with engineers to architect and implement scalable ML infrastructure, including data pipelines and LLM-specific pipelines.
Researching and applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to improve model performance and converting research outputs into production-grade software is also part of the job.

Requirements:

Candidates must be strong coders with experience in building ML systems from the ground up and shipping ML solutions to production.
Expertise in deploying and maintaining LLM-based applications in production, including embeddings, RAG, Agent, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning is required.
A strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation techniques, and quality hill-climbing is necessary.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Strong analytical skills are considered a plus.

The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $215,000, with potential for commissions/bonus, equity, and other company perks.
