Description:
Float is seeking two Senior Back-End Engineers to support its transition towards an event-driven data and process flow.
The role involves shaping the future of the product by driving user-centric enhancements and ensuring effective interoperability across the platform.
Responsibilities include expanding and maintaining third-party integrations and contributing to data-driven features that enhance product intelligence and decision-making.
The position requires tackling complex engineering challenges to build scalable, high-performance back-end systems.
The main back-end engineering stack consists of PHP, Node.js, Python, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Neo4j, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
Early responsibilities include ownership of back-end development, enhancing reliability and performance, and driving scalable product features.
The role also involves cross-team collaboration, proactively identifying and solving bottlenecks, optimizing and maintaining back-end systems, and leading the development of new capabilities.
The work environment is remote-first, focusing on asynchronous communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
A strong understanding of engineering principles for delivering high-quality services in a growth-stage business is required.
Experience designing and building services for modern cloud architectures on platforms like GCP and AWS is necessary.
Proficiency in PHP and Node.js within a production environment is essential.
Expertise in SQL and NoSQL database technologies, particularly MySQL and MongoDB, is required.
Experience in designing and developing services within a microservices architecture is needed.
Familiarity with serverless architectures and the ability to discern appropriate usage scenarios is important.
Knowledge of event-driven and asynchronous architectures for building scalable and reliable distributed systems is required.
Experience developing integrations with third-party APIs is necessary.
The ability to work independently and make decisions while recognizing the boundaries of expertise is essential.
Strong written communication skills to convey ideas and maintain effective collaboration across a globally distributed team are required.
A strong focus on the end-user experience and a practical approach to problem-solving are necessary.
Previous remote experience and comfort with asynchronous communication tools like Slack, Loom, and Linear are important.
