Description:

  • The Senior Back-end Engineer will analyze system performance and reliability challenges, collaborating with engineering teams to develop and implement solutions that ensure high availability, scalability, and optimal performance in alignment with business objectives.
  • This role involves developing and implementing testing strategies, performance monitoring, and telemetry solutions across a range of projects.
  • The engineer will design and develop backend services and tools using serverless functions, TypeScript, and AWS services, including creating RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and data processing pipelines.
  • Responsibilities include writing high-quality, testable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests, ensuring code quality through static analysis, code reviews, and adherence to coding standards.
  • The engineer will implement end-to-end, load, and performance tests to validate system functionality, scalability, and reliability, utilizing testing frameworks and tools like Jest, Cypress, Artillery, Playwright, or Selenium.
  • They will develop and maintain telemetry systems for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing performance data across all systems, integrating with logging and monitoring tools and building observability dashboards.
  • The role requires configuring monitoring and alerting tools to proactively identify and address performance issues and system anomalies, defining and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs).
  • Participation in incident response and post-mortem analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures is also expected, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of back-end development experience is required.
  • Candidates must have recent, hands-on experience with TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cucumber is necessary.
  • Experience with AWS CDK for infrastructure as code is required.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or similar (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Zipkin) is essential.
  • Strong knowledge and practice of unit testing is a must.
