Description:

The Senior Backend Engineer will help build a new consumer-facing AI product that enables users to generate personalized cards based on user specifications.
A proof of concept has already been developed externally, and the internal team is now working toward building and launching the MVP by the end of June.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong Python backend skills, experience with AWS infrastructure, and a solid understanding of integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into product experiences.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the engineering team and product stakeholders to build core backend features for the MVP, developing and maintaining scalable microservices using Python and PostgreSQL, integrating and optimizing LLMs for AI-driven content generation, contributing to foundational system design decisions, setting up APIs and managing data flows, ensuring application performance, security, and scalability, writing clear and maintainable code and documentation, and participating in code reviews, standups, and sprint planning.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 4+ years of experience as a backend engineer building consumer-facing applications.
Strong proficiency in Python and experience building microservices is required.
Experience working with PostgreSQL, including writing complex queries and optimizing performance, is necessary.
A solid understanding of AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, RDS, and S3 is essential.
Candidates should have exposure to integrating or fine-tuning LLMs or other generative AI tools.
Familiarity with RESTful API design and best practices is required.
Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with product and design teams are important.
