Migaku is a company focused on language learning, providing tools that support users from beginner to advanced fluency.
The Senior Backend Developer position is fully remote, targeting candidates in APAC and European time zones.
The role requires a dedicated individual with a "ship-first" mindset who can deliver results quickly and support the company's growth.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and developing new features for various products, including the website, iOS and Android apps, browser extension, and web app.
The developer will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a Firebase-powered account system integrated with Stripe for financial transactions.
Collaboration with team members on integration work across different platforms is essential.
The role involves interacting with users to triage and fix issues, writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests, and contributing to code reviews and team best practices.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a strong passion for language learning, with experience studying an Asian language, particularly Japanese, being a bonus.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development is required.
Proficiency in developing and maintaining backend components using Kotlin, Javascript, and Python is necessary.
Strong experience with Google Cloud or other cloud technologies is essential.
Candidates should have strong Linux proficiency and experience working with Firebase account systems.
Familiarity with hosting solutions on Cloudflare is required.
Knowledge and experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) is a plus.
Experience mentoring junior engineers is preferred.
The ability to be on call and respond promptly to critical backend issues is required.
