Description:
The Senior Backend Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the core backend services that drive Paxful’s marketplace, with a strong emphasis on scalability and performance.
This role requires expertise in PHP, as well as experience with Go and Node.js for handling multi-language service integrations and distributed systems.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend services using Java, developing RESTful APIs, and integrating with frontend, mobile, and blockchain systems.
The developer will optimize existing Java-based microservices for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaboration with product managers and other engineering teams is essential to define and deliver new features.
The role involves debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues to ensure platform stability.
Implementing security best practices for backend services, particularly in fintech and crypto environments, is a key responsibility.
The developer will architect and maintain distributed systems, ensuring efficient data flow and communication.
Writing robust unit and integration tests to maintain code quality is required.
Monitoring and optimizing database queries to ensure high availability and low latency is part of the job.
The developer will work closely with DevOps to deploy and monitor services in cloud environments using Kubernetes and Terraform.
Participation in peer code reviews and mentoring junior developers to uphold best practices is expected.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Java.
Proficiency in Java frameworks such as Spring Boot or Micronaut is required.
Experience designing and building microservices architectures is essential.
A strong understanding of RESTful API design and event-driven systems is necessary.
Proficiency in working with databases is required.
Experience with SQL databases like PostgreSQL and familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB is needed.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows is essential.
Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes is required.
Familiarity with security best practices in backend development is necessary.
Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, JWT) is required.
