Description:
Peerspace is the leading online marketplace for venue rentals for meetings, productions, and events, with over 40,000 spaces available.
The company is seeking a senior software engineer to join the backend team and become an expert in business-critical technical areas.
Key areas of development include the reservation system, transactional ledgers, payment gateways, account and inventory management, account security, and search matching.
The role reports to the Backend Engineering Manager and offers autonomy in a high-impact and high-visibility position.
Responsibilities include becoming a technical expert in microservices, collaborating with product and design teams, shipping frequently in 2-week sprints, working with modern server-side technologies, driving initiatives for reliability and scalability, participating in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and prioritizing user experience and security.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in software development.
Experience with microservice architecture, distributed systems, and API design is required.
A strong history of problem-solving for short, mid, and long-term objectives is necessary.
Familiarity with at least one of the following is required: pub/sub and message queue patterns, finite state machines, idempotent request handling, or data modeling.
Candidates should provide examples of projects they were responsible for end-to-end.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a start-up environment and interest or experience in Clojure.
