Description:

Monte Carlo is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to significantly contribute to building their cloud application for Data Observability.
The role involves end-to-end development, including formulating usability requirements, full production implementation, and operations.
The engineer will collaborate with a small team of seasoned engineers, impacting the product and customers significantly.
Responsibilities include building production-grade backend services and APIs, owning major projects from inception to deployment, architecting flexible solutions, testing and operating code in production, and solving complex problems amidst ambiguity.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience delivering production-grade backend code, performing code reviews, and working on cloud, data, and web applications.
Strong Python skills (Django preferred) or mastery of similar backend technologies in a large, complex codebase are required.
Experience in testing work with automation and following user traffic for feature usage is essential.
Candidates should have experience tech-leading critical projects or initiatives within their team and organization.
Familiarity with serverless applications, especially with AWS and Lambda, is preferred.
Experience with data-driven applications and tools such as PySpark is a plus.
Understanding the needs of data engineers and analytics teams, including tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, or dbt, is beneficial.
A passion for observability, software APMs, debugging tools, and uptime metrics is desired.
Candidates must be able to collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment and prioritize user feedback and product vision.
A pragmatic approach with a bias towards action and the ability to see the bigger picture is important.

The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and equity package.
The salary range for US-based employees is $180,000 - $230,000 per year, with final offers varying based on professional background and experience.
