Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• Rye is seeking a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to work on eCommerce systems, including order tracking, order placement, returns, and inventory.
• The role involves developing features and infrastructure to integrate with platforms like Amazon, Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.
• Responsibilities include building and maintaining high-quality APIs for eCommerce, setting up new infrastructure on platforms like GCP and Netlify, and creating developer documentation.
• The position requires working independently and communicating effectively with a remote-first team.

Requirements:

• Candidates should have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js is highly desired, along with experience in building systems with a GraphQL API and a gRPC backend system.
• A strong understanding of software engineering best practices and API development is essential.
• Familiarity with platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce is a plus.
• Interest in working with customers and providing technical documentation is required.
• Excellent communication skills, a growth mindset, thoughtfulness, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines are necessary.
