Magic Media is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in Lisbon, Portugal.
The role involves taking ownership of the full development lifecycle of features and maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities include technical design of new features and refactoring legacy features.
The engineer will develop server-side logic for web applications or services.
Tasks include reverse engineering, optimizing, bug-fixing, and rewriting legacy code.
The position requires migrating legacy GCP deployments and applications.
The engineer will design and optimize database schemas, write efficient SQL queries, and manage database operations.
API development for communication between front-end and server-side applications is also required.
Performance optimization by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in server-side code and architecture is essential.
Collaboration with team members to ensure seamless integration of all application components is expected.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of backend development experience.
Proficiency in Python and basic knowledge of Go is required.
Broad experience with Google Cloud Platform is necessary.
Hands-on experience with SQL and No-SQL databases is essential.
Experience with caching systems is required.
Candidates should have experience designing cloud-based software architecture.
A good understanding of CI/CD and automation is necessary.
Professional working proficiency in English is required.
Nice to have skills include experience with GCP services like AppEngine, GKS, BigQuery, Datastore, and Memorystore, as well as game backend development experience, Redis, Kubernetes, Python webapp2, flask, PHP, Marionette, HTML, and CSS.
