Description:

The Senior Backend Engineer position is a remote or hybrid role available for candidates in the UK/Europe.
The company focuses on enhancing customer experience for major brands like Uber, Amazon, and HelloFresh through their Customer Experience Intelligence (CXI) platform.
The role involves developing new features and improving existing APIs in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include brainstorming features with product managers and designers, assisting the Customer Experience team with bug triaging, spreading knowledge of new web technologies, participating in peer code reviews, and being involved in all development steps from design to monitoring production systems.

Requirements:

Candidates must have strong experience working with Ruby.
A good understanding of computer science fundamentals, solid principles, and design patterns is required.
Proficiency with PostgreSQL and an understanding of SQL vs. NoSQL databases is necessary.
Experience with asynchronous messaging patterns and practical knowledge of RabbitMQ, Kafka, or GCP PubSub is needed.
Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch is required.
Candidates should have practical experience with Redis and the ability to choose appropriate caching strategies.
An understanding of 12-factor app principles and cloud-native application requirements is essential.
Practical experience with Kubernetes and the ability to write specifications for Kubernetes objects is required.
Experience in identifying and fixing bottlenecks in complex distributed systems, as well as conducting load and disaster recovery testing, is necessary.
Candidates should have experience designing and building applications using microservice architecture.
