Description:
Senior Backend Engineers at Raya are passionate about backend engineering and have demonstrated leadership in previous roles.
The position requires excitement to work in a Node.js codebase and a minimum of 6 years of experience with a proven track record of results and leadership.
The backend team is experiencing high growth, and the candidate will support initiatives in messaging, connecting, and location-based map projects.
The role involves designing software architecture in a scalable manner and aligning with Raya’s vision of enriching lives through quality, in-person interactions.
Responsibilities include leading key components of Core Services, applying knowledge of databases like Postgres SQL, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch, collaborating with cross-functional teams, staying updated with technology, prioritizing user experiences, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Requirements:
A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is required, although professional experience can substitute for non-engineering educational backgrounds.
Candidates must have 6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development environments, with a history of delivering scalable and maintainable systems.
Demonstrated expertise in system design and architecture is essential, along with mastery in at least one programming language such as Node.js, Javascript, Golang, or Typescript.
Strong collaborative instincts are necessary, emphasizing open communication, transparency, and cross-team interaction.
Production experience with search applications like OpenSearch, Vector database, or Elasticsearch is required.
