Description:

Blockworks is a financial media brand that provides breaking news and premium insights about digital assets to millions of investors.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the backend systems for all applications and services.
You will lead and scope feature work across the backend stack that powers the research product and editorial website, which has over 1 million monthly active users.
Responsibilities include implementing APIs, accessing, parsing, and formatting blockchain transactions, and modeling internal data across different databases.
You will participate in all aspects of the product development life cycle, including system architecture and design.
You will estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes.
You will identify project risks and work to mitigate them effectively.
You will find and fix stability and scalability issues in a time-critical environment.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer, focusing on backend development and architecture using Typescript and Node.js is necessary.
Experience in building fast API endpoints capable of handling over 1 million requests per day is required.
Extensive experience with Vercel and its serverless functions, including deployment, configuration, and optimization is essential.
Proficiency in designing and optimizing relational databases, such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization is needed.
Experience with caching mechanisms and tools like Redis to enhance application performance and scalability is required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced environment are necessary.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment tools is required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are essential.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code are necessary.
