Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join Feed Media Group to work hand-in-hand with our current engineering team, music curators, customer support, and product team using cutting edge technologies to develop new opportunities to add popular music to apps, connected fitness devices, and physical spaces.
• You will have the opportunity to apply yourself in all aspects of our services, including our music ingestion and delivery, analytics collection and reporting, and web services used by our clients and curation team.

• The candidate should be comfortable owning the design, implementation, and optimization of backend systems and APIs, while also having the flexibility to collaborate closely with frontend teams and contribute to cross-functional projects as needed.
• Our backend consists of a GraphQL API built on Node.js services that interact with MySQL, ElasticSearch, and S3, hosted on AWS.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with the engineering team to design, implement, test, and document scalable backend systems, building and maintaining REST APIs, designing and optimizing cloud-based architectures, implementing security solutions, using infrastructure-as-code tools, contributing to DevOps efforts, and owning work end-to-end in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements:

• You have 4+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, ideally in a music or media related industry.
• You are a strong communicator and thrive in a fast, startup environment with high autonomy and accountability.
• You have experience in JavaScript/TypeScript with Node.js.
• You have deep knowledge of databases, including both relational (SQL-based) and non-relational (e.g., DynamoDB) systems.
• You have experience designing and maintaining REST APIs and backend systems that scale.
• You are proficient with AWS services, such as DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, and more, with bonus points for deploying services using CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• You have familiarity with DevOps practices, including monitoring, alerting, and logging in cloud-based environments.
• You have experience with caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis) and authentication/authorization standards (e.g., OAuth, JWT).
• You are comfortable working end-to-end with data pipelines, from ingestion to processing and integration with data warehouses or lakes.
