Description:

Vanta is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for their AI Platform, with a mission to secure the internet and protect consumer data.
The role involves shaping Vanta’s AI offerings, improving systems, and setting technical strategy for end-to-end ML/AI architecture.
The engineer will be part of the core AI team, collaborating with product engineers, machine learning engineers, product managers, and security experts.
Responsibilities include implementing, scaling, and maintaining data pipelines that accelerate AI innovations.
The engineer will design, build, and improve AI infrastructure and tooling, including offline and online evaluation, data pipelines for model training, and vector search capabilities.
The role also involves designing unified AI services such as document parsing, search, and LLM gateways.
The engineer will make effective tradeoffs considering business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.
Mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative engineering culture is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements:

Candidates must have at least 5 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
Experience in designing, implementing, and scaling platform products for developers is required, including solving reliability, performance, and monitoring issues.
Candidates should have built data pipelines from scratch and scaled them, with the ability to make appropriate design and architecture tradeoffs.
A strong interest or previous experience in ML/AI systems and using state-of-the-art AI technology to solve user problems is necessary.
Experience working in rapidly scaling startups and large companies is preferred, especially in environments that prioritize action.
Candidates should be action-driven, willing to engage directly with users, and prioritize building a user-centric platform.
