Description:

Quora is a remote-first company, allowing this position to be performed remotely from multiple countries around the world.
The Senior Backend Engineer will work on the Poe product, which is a platform for AI language models.
The role involves shaping the future of Poe by empowering bot creators and developers.
Responsibilities include building abstractions and tooling for bot onboarding, collaborating with LLM providers, and improving the external API.
The engineer will drive feature planning and backend implementation while contributing to a fast-paced, cross-functional product cycle.
The position requires collaboration with design, product, data science, QA, and engineering teams to create innovative features for bot creators.
The engineer will iterate on developer APIs, champion user experience, and ensure sustainable code practices.
Participation in on-call responsibilities is required to maintain product reliability and quality.

Requirements:

Candidates must be available for meetings during Quora's coordination hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
A minimum of 5 years of experience working with large scale codebases and systems, particularly web applications, is required.
At least 3 years of experience in Python or a similar programming language is necessary.
A passion for learning and improving oneself and the team is essential.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Preferred candidates will have a passion for Poe and Quora's products and mission, API design, and code quality.

For US candidates, the salary range is $155,656 - $225,160 USD plus equity and benefits.
