As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Conversations AI Team, you will leverage AI to enhance SMS performance and drive revenue gains through continuous self-improvement and real-time testing.
You will architect, build, and refine systems that enable AI agents to learn and deliver personalized shopping experiences at scale.
Your work will directly impact Postscript’s bottom line and customer success by optimizing SMS as a revenue channel.
Responsibilities include maintaining scalable APIs for AI-driven conversational tools, integrating LLMs and OpenAI models, and leading the design of backend systems on AWS.
You will also innovate acquisition tools, implement new AI features, mentor other engineers, and ensure technical excellence.

Requirements:

Strong experience with OpenAI, LLMs, and RAG, with a passion for AI-driven solutions.
A minimum of 6-8 years of professional software development experience, including at least 1-2 years in AI solutions.
Proven ability to build and scale backend systems, preferably in high-growth or early-stage environments.
Expertise in Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy) and building robust, modular APIs focused on performance.
Deep understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and AWS architecture with an emphasis on observability and scalability.
Ability to lead projects from conception to delivery while managing ambiguity and driving results.
Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams, with strong collaboration and communication skills.
Familiarity with modern frontend technologies (TypeScript, Lit Web Components) and willingness to work across the stack.

Salary range of USD $170,000-$200,000 base plus significant equity, with no geo-based salary differences.
