Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• Calendly is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Engineering team, which focuses on innovation to enhance customer experience.
• The role involves supporting features and architecture to maintain user confidence in Calendly.
• The platform is transitioning from a monolith to various services to scale effectively, and the engineer will contribute to this growth.
• Responsibilities include building new features, scaling the platform, creating tooling and automation, and working with technologies like Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Rails, NodeJS, React, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Daily tasks involve collaborating with the team on high-impact features, contributing to platform scaling, meeting with Product and Design teams, attending agile ceremonies, improving engineering practices, reviewing implementation plans, and mentoring team members.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 7+ years of Software Development experience at a SaaS or technology company.
• Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and a Monolith to Services architectural rebuild is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems are essential.
• Candidates should demonstrate the ability to drive innovation and propose solutions that align with organizational goals.
• Adaptability to new technologies and changing requirements is necessary.
• A commitment to writing clean, reliable, and maintainable code is expected.
• Availability for on-call rotation is required to respond to business-critical alerts outside regular hours.
• Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not sponsor immigration.
