Description:

This is a remote position for a Senior Backend Engineer focused on databases, specifically for Tempo, an open-source distributed tracing backend.
The role involves collaborating with a team to deliver new features, analyze outcomes, and implement improvements.
You will lead projects from concept to implementation, including ongoing customer support.
Responsibilities include designing, building, operating, and maintaining essential systems to ensure reliability, performance, and availability.
You will participate in on-call rotations and take responsibility for the services you oversee.
The position requires supporting and mentoring team members, engaging in design discussions, and working closely with colleagues.
You will have the opportunity to expand your skillset by deepening your knowledge of cloud products, understanding customer needs, and learning about the codebase.

Requirements:

Candidates must have solid experience with at least one programming language; familiarity with Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar languages is acceptable.
Some experience in delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping a product in a self-driven manner is required.
Candidates should have experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering.
Experience in writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others is necessary.
Nice to have: Experience working with Kubernetes, being a user of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, and familiarity with being on-call or performing operations/SRE tasks.

The base compensation range for this role in Sweden is SEK 738,518 - SEK 923,148, with actual compensation varying based on level, experience, and skillset.
