Description:

This is a remote position, and candidates from Spain, Germany, Sweden, or the UK are encouraged to apply.
The role involves working with Tempo, an open-source distributed tracing backend that is user-friendly and scalable, and a key component of Grafana Enterprise Traces (GET).
Responsibilities include collaborating with the team to deliver new features, analyzing outcomes, and making improvements.
The candidate will lead projects from concept to implementation, including ongoing customer support.
The role requires designing, building, operating, and maintaining essential systems to ensure reliability, performance, and availability.
The candidate will influence the roadmap and their own career objectives, participate in on-call rotations, and take responsibility for the services they oversee.
Supporting and mentoring team members, engaging in design conversations, and working closely with colleagues is expected.
The position offers opportunities to expand skillsets by deepening knowledge of cloud products, understanding customers, and learning about the codebase.

Requirements:

Candidates must have solid experience with at least one programming language; familiarity with Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar languages is acceptable.
Some experience in delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping a product to customers in a self-driven manner is required.
Candidates should have experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering.
Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others is necessary.
Familiarity with being on-call and performing operations/SRE tasks or with the concept of infrastructure as code is required.
Nice to haves include experience working with Kubernetes, being a user of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, and experience working in a fully remote, distributed environment.

The base compensation range for this role in Germany is EUR 91,000 - EUR 114,000, with actual compensation varying based on level, experience, and skillset.
