Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• ButterflyMX, founded in 2014, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their remote team.
• The company's mission is to enable people to open and manage doors and gates from a smartphone, with products installed in over 10,000 properties worldwide.
• The Senior Backend Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and evolving the APIs and services that power ButterflyMX's products.
• Responsibilities include leading large-scale projects, maintaining code quality, identifying and resolving bugs, and contributing to the architecture and evolution of backend services.
• The ideal candidate will be motivated to learn and collaborate, prioritize business success, and have expertise in security, reliability, and scalability.
• Requirements for the position include 5+ years of professional development experience, proficiency in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and JavaScript, as well as experience with CI/CD pipelines, Agile environments, testing, APIs, and cloud-based environments.
• Additional technologies such as GraphQL and IoT development are considered a plus.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional development experience
• 3+ years of professional development experience in Ruby on Rails
• 2+ years of professional development experience in TypeScript, JavaScript
• Strong experience with automated CI/CD pipelines
• Strong experience working in and advocating for Agile environments
• Deep understanding of testing and what, when and how to test
• Extensive experience with developing and maintaining APIs, as well as integrating with 3rd party APIs
• Hands on experience working in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment
• Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with Docker and development in a dockerized environment
• Experience with managing security for Linux/AWS/Docker environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
