Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• Updater, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join the Platform team within the MoveHQ division of Updater.
• This role involves driving the development and optimization of backend systems, specifically handling interactions with third-party systems including authentication and authorization processes.
• The Senior Backend Engineer will maintain a one-stack system for account and user management, ensuring stability, scalability, and success of the platforms.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining backend components, enhancing software quality and performance, leading technical implementations, mentoring junior engineers, and managing CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of backend web development experience, with significant expertise in Ruby on Rails and PHP (Laravel).
• A proven track record of developing and maintaining high-quality systems is essential, demonstrating the ability to solve complex backend engineering problems.
• Proficiency with relational databases and ORM systems is required, along with experience in crafting efficient, scalable database interactions.
• Candidates should be proficient in test development and familiar with testing frameworks such as Cypress or Selenium.
• Familiarity with agile development practices and tools such as Scrum and Jira is necessary.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery practices using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for producing high-quality technical documentation and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• Optional: Experience in developing software for highly-regulated environments is a plus.
