Postscript is redefining marketing for ecommerce companies by introducing SMS as a new channel for engagement, retention, and conversion.
The Flow Builder team is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Postscript’s message orchestration platform.
The team is focused on improving the current platform and adding new features to empower merchants to run their SMS business.
The Senior Backend Engineer will enhance the message orchestration platform, enabling customers to engage their subscribers through conversational messaging.
The role involves setting the bar for maintainability and performance of systems and providing autonomy for personal growth.
Senior Backend Engineers will have a high impact through project leadership, technical expertise, and decision-making.
The current tech stack includes React, Go, Python (Flask), and operates within a mostly monolithic, AWS-managed architecture.
Primary duties include architecting and building scalable platform primitives and REST APIs, taking ownership of solutions, guiding team decisions, mentoring engineers, and managing communication and task estimation.

Requirements:

A proven career as a software engineer with experience in developing backend applications and APIs, specifically using Golang and Python; SaaS experience is preferred.
Experience with or exposure to migration off a monolithic architecture is a plus.
Familiarity with building, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS services using Terraform is required.
Expertise in NoSQL and SQL, with experience in database modeling using Postgres.
Experience in building modular and flexible architectures that maximize readability and extensibility is necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Experience in building great products, particularly in high growth, early stage tech environments, is preferred.
Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers is required.
Minimum of 6-8 years of professional software development experience is necessary.
A passion for early stage companies and the responsibility of owning and improving a new, fast-growing code base is important.
Strong attention to detail and empathy for users are valued traits.
Remote work experience is a plus.

The salary range is USD $170,000-$200,000 base plus significant equity, with no geo-based salary adjustments.
