Remote Senior Backend Engineer, Grafana Search & Storage (Remote, EMEA)

Description:

• The Grafana Search & Storage squad is building Grafana’s next generation storage layer as part of the App Platform movement.
• The Unified Storage component will allow developers to interact with data using Kubernetes-inspired design patterns like Operators.
• The team is responsible for two end-user features: Search, which helps users find resources, and Folders, which allows teams to organize content hierarchically.
• Responsibilities include influencing the roadmap, delivering new features, driving projects from ideation to operations, and contributing to open-source culture.
• The role involves designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participation in on-call rotations and mentoring team members is expected.
• The position requires good communication skills and an independent attitude due to the remote-first nature of the organization.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have solid experience with the Go programming language.
• Experience with Kubernetes API Patterns such as controllers and operators is required.
• A proven track record of delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping products in a self-driven manner is necessary.
• Experience in developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering is essential.
• Candidates should be able to write clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintained by others.
• Nice to haves include experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles, exposure to microservices architecture, and familiarity with on-call operations or infrastructure as code.
