Description:

ClickUp is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Hierarchy Squad, responsible for building and optimizing tier 1 services at the core of ClickUp’s productivity platform.
The role involves owning end-to-end development from conception to production, building features and systems with attention to detail and performance.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a world-class product and identify and implement improvements to existing systems.
The position also includes helping to establish a fun, fulfilling, and world-class engineering culture.
Key technologies used in this role include Typescript, Postgres, Kafka, and NestJS running on Amazon Web Services.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent major is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience engineering performant and high-throughput systems, ideally on Node.js.
Proficiency in writing high-quality code, ideally in TypeScript, is essential.
A track record of building performant, high-throughput systems is necessary.
Experience in writing and debugging SQL queries at scale is required.
Candidates should have experience developing event-based systems and working with major cloud services, ideally AWS.
Strong communication skills and the ability to empathize with others are important.
Candidates must be comfortable with ambiguity and have a history of delivering projects with little direction.
A product-minded approach and a good intuition for what constitutes a great user experience are essential.
