Description:
We are looking for a driven Backend Engineer to join our team and help eliminate the financial complexity of healthcare.
This role will support building the core pricing systems that help patients and providers negotiate lower prices in healthcare.
We value creative, outside-the-box thinkers that back their ideas with technical knowledge and action.
The position involves leading and mentoring developing engineers within a small, growing, and highly-capable development team.
The Senior Engineer will navigate uncertainty and lead complex projects to success, having a large impact on the growth and direction of the development team.
Responsibilities include designing and building strong, resilient, and robust APIs, libraries, and tools to power healthcare pricing products.
The engineer will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, and operating in production.
The role requires working cross-functionally with Product and subject matter experts to conceptualize, prototype, and build API endpoints.
Drafting internal and external technical documentation and seeking technical and product feedback from internal customers is essential.
The engineer should iterate quickly with an eye towards value and have experience designing APIs and building endpoints and backend systems in Python.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/knowledge is required; non-traditional educational backgrounds are welcome.
Candidates must have 7+ years of demonstrated experience in backend development, specifically in building API endpoints and scalable backend systems.
Experience with different programming languages such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Scala is necessary.
The candidate should have experience creating libraries and tools for engineers and operations.
Proficiency in working with SQL or NoSQL databases is required.
Familiarity with OLAP datastore technologies such as ClickHouse or Apache Pinot is preferred.
Understanding of software engineering development lifecycles is necessary.
An entrepreneurial mindset is essential, with the ability to prioritize tasks based on evolving business needs and problem-solve independently.
The ability to work effectively in a remote environment is required.
