Remote Senior Backend Engineer - Mimir (Remote, UK)

Description:

• The Senior Backend Engineer position at Mimir, a remote role, is open to candidates in the UK, Sweden, Germany, or Spain.
• Grafana Cloud, an observability platform, integrates metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with Grafana, offering customers open-source observability software like Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope without the need for maintaining their own stack.
• The Databases team manages telemetry databases such as Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope, offered as Cloud services supporting Grafana Cloud and as on-premise solutions with Grafana Enterprise Metrics, Logs, and Traces.
• The team works on multi-tenant distributed systems implemented in Go and running on Kubernetes across major Cloud service providers.
• The Mimir squad focuses on optimizing the efficiency and resilience of processing, storing, and querying metrics at large volumes, ensuring high performance and competitiveness.
• Responsibilities include influencing the roadmap, delivering new features, designing, building, and maintaining critical systems, participating in on-call rotations, mentoring team members, and contributing to open-source projects.

Requirements:

• Motivated self-starter with a bias towards action and customer focus.
• Ability to tackle complex challenges, collaborate effectively, and communicate well in a fully remote setup.
• Solid experience in at least one programming language (preferably Go) and delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping.
• Experience with Cloud software development or systems engineering, writing clean, robust, and performant software.
• Nice-to-haves include experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Grafana, Prometheus, microservices architecture, distributed systems, on-call responsibilities, or infrastructure as code.
