We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our new Monorepo DevOps Team.
This role involves fostering engineering excellence by creating and implementing core processes and tools to enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality within the Camunda 8 monorepo.
You will collaborate with infrastructure and core software engineering teams to ensure smooth workflows, robust dependency management, and continuous improvement of CI processes.
Your work will enable the core Camunda 8 engineering teams to focus better on core product development.
Responsibilities include implementing, automating, and maintaining core engineering processes in the Camunda 8 monorepository, such as release management, dependency management, CVE management, and asset management.
You will monitor and continuously improve monorepo CI health following a metric-driven approach.
Collaboration with key stakeholders to implement the CI strategy and engineering best practices is essential.

Requirements:

You should have the ability and/or willingness to use our product.
A background in Software Engineering with a track record of delivering high-impact results, preferably in one of the JVM languages, is required.
Specialization in Fullstack or Backend development is necessary.
A passion for engineering operational excellence beyond writing code, including CI/CD optimization, dependency management with Renovate, release process enhancements, and build efficiency is expected.
Experience in CI build tools and automations, such as GitHub Actions, Java ecosystem (Maven, Docker), is required.
You must be able to collaborate across teams and deliver impactful solutions in a platform-like environment.
Taking ownership of the codebase and being comfortable with the “you build it, you run it” mindset is essential.
We are specifically looking for a Software Engineer with a backend background, with experience and interest in operational excellence and process topics, like developer automation and CI efficiency.
Note that we are NOT looking for DevOps/Infrastructure/SRE Engineers for this role.
Nice to haves include experience in developer experience tools and process optimization, as well as automation testing framework experience and QA strategies.

For external hires, compensation is based on skills and experience, typically placing candidates in the first half of the range to ensure ample room for growth.
The annual Total Target Cash Compensation range for this position varies by location:
- United States: $131,000 to $196,000
- Germany: €87,000 to €130,000
- United Kingdom: £85,000 to £127,500
- Singapore: S$162,900 to S$244,400
Actual Total Cash offered will depend on factors such as skills and qualifications related to the role.
The Total Rewards package may also include equity in the form of a Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan and benefits based on the country of residence.
Candidates outside the specified countries will be employed by our Preferred Employer Organization (PEO), Remote, and will have access to the Camunda Total Rewards Calculator for their country.
