Description:
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Origination Group Engineering team at Bestow, you will collaborate with Enrollment Product Managers, Underwriters, and external partners to develop and maintain solutions for the digital life insurance enrollment experience.
You will work on developing web services using Python, PostgreSQL, Java, and Drools Rule Language.
The role involves contributing to building new platform capabilities that align with the company's long product roadmap and multiple partners.
Effective written communication and teleconference skills are crucial as the team works remotely.
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of your work, writing maintainable software with automated tests, and providing and receiving feedback from peers.
Collaboration with designers, product managers, customer support associates, and other engineers is essential to ensure the success of features and services.
Requirements:
3-7 years of professional software development experience, particularly in backend development.
Proficiency in Python or Java is preferred.
Familiarity with Docker for local software development.
Experience working with distributed systems or microservices.
Proficiency in PostgreSQL or other relational databases and writing ANSI SQL.
Experience in designing APIs using Protocol Buffers, Swagger, OpenAPI, etc.
Experience in building, deploying, operating, and troubleshooting software.
Knowledge of cloud computing and Kubernetes or similar container orchestration is preferred.
