The promotional features team is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with a strong PHP background and an interest or beginning experience in Node.js.
This role is crucial for developing and optimizing promotional features for gaming platforms, focusing on performance, scalability, and cutting-edge solutions.
A key objective is to progressively migrate the legacy PHP codebase to a more modern and scalable solution using Node.js.
The ideal candidate should be product-passionate, keen on solving deep tech engineering problems, and possess a fast "PoC first" approach with a deep sense of ownership.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining robust backend systems, optimizing existing systems, leading technical decisions, collaborating with distributed teams, ensuring code excellence, and addressing complex technical challenges.

Requirements:

A degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
Strong proficiency in PHP with a deep understanding of OOP, SOLID, MVC architectures, and design patterns is necessary.
Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs is essential.
Knowledge and experience in web application frameworks such as Symfony or Laminas are required.
A keen interest in expanding expertise to Node.js is expected.
A solid grasp of asynchronous programming techniques and their applications in PHP and JavaScript is needed.
Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), columnar databases (Redshift, ClickHouse), and NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, MongoDB) is required.
Skills in developing and maintaining end-to-end and unit tests are necessary.
A proven track record of developing production-ready solutions is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with large-scale microservices architecture, Apache Kafka, GRPC, familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP), knowledge of Kubernetes, and understanding of application security and industry best practices.
