Ottimate is changing the way the hospitality industry manages its finances through life-changing Accounts Payable automation.
The mission is to eliminate manual work from every aspect of business expenses and enable business operators to stay in control of their spending at all times.
The Senior Backend Engineer will contribute to new product efforts and help take ideas to market, specifically in fintech and payments.
The technology stack includes Django, Angular, Postgres, and AWS, with a strong emphasis on Django expertise.
Responsibilities include discussing, planning, building, and testing new features.
The engineer will bring learnings from previous roles to help build new fintech innovations.
Collaboration with engineers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders is essential in defining the user experience.
The role involves developing integrations with 3rd party APIs and triaging and fixing bugs, often working directly with users.
The engineer will manage code reviews through Pull Requests, ensuring speed while maintaining Unit Tests and quality.
The position includes helping migrate some modules into independent micro-services and working on product features that affect tens of thousands of customers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience working on web applications using modern software engineering processes.
Proficiency in Python and Django is required.
Experience in debugging complex database performance issues is necessary.
Candidates should think critically about their work and ask questions to improve the product, focusing on both technical implementation and user needs.
Experience in building performant and scalable backends, making pragmatic tradeoffs, and being able to reference prior work is essential.
Strong communication skills are required to explain complex technical topics clearly and concisely to the entire team.
Candidates should be proactive in diagnosing and fixing core issues when problems arise.
Experience working in an early-stage startup is a significant plus.
Fluency in both written and spoken English is mandatory.
