Description:

  • The Senior Backend Engineer at Wolt will be part of the Search Platform engineering team, focusing on developing venue & item search for consumers.
  • Responsibilities include experimenting, testing, and fine-tuning the complex search feature, including filtering, sorting, and relevancy scoring.
  • The role involves taking care of the end-to-end consumer search architecture to create the best search experience for customers.
  • The team is back-end focused and consists of a Team Lead and experienced software engineers.
  • The Senior Backend Engineer will have full ownership of the search feature used by 10+ million customers and will primarily focus on hands-on development of high-quality code.
  • The role also includes sharing best practices, ensuring scalable solutions, and sharing expertise around the search domain.
  • The position plays a crucial role in building an uncompromisingly good search feature that aligns with the organization's wider product strategy.

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidates should have experience in developing large-scale search features and a strong background in designing and building high-quality software.
  • Expertise in Elasticsearch or similar tools is preferred, along with experience in a Senior Engineer role in the search domain at a large consumer organization.
  • Experience as a coding architect is highly valuable.
  • Knowledge in site reliability engineering, including building and integrating tools for observability, logging, and monitoring, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Python (Flask, FastAPI) is preferred, but skills in any modern language and framework are valued.
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to lead with technical expertise, and a strong drive to achieve results are essential.
