Description:

  • The Senior Backend Engineer for Subreddit Success at Reddit will work collaboratively with product, design, and other engineering teams to develop innovative products and features that enhance user experience.
  • Responsibilities include contributing to the full development cycle, setting standards to improve developer workflows, and mentoring team members for their professional growth.
  • The role involves continuous learning and enhancement of technical and non-technical skills to support the growth and success of Reddit's communities.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience in languages like Go, Python, Java, C++, Rust, etc.
  • Proficiency in GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift or gRPC basics, and designing maintainable APIs.
  • Experience in maintaining and optimizing high traffic backend systems, including familiarity with Kubernetes scaling and troubleshooting infrastructure issues.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and keep projects on schedule.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias towards action, innovation, and building new things in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with remote teams and discussing complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
