Description:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our mission-driven team focused on addressing the skills crisis.
The role involves designing and building scalable, reliable systems that meet user needs.
You will transform complex requirements into robust backend solutions, optimize for performance, and ensure seamless integration with the broader system architecture.
As a senior member of the Engineering function, you will collaborate in a cross-functional squad and contribute innovative ideas to solve customer challenges.
You will spend most of your time creating and owning one or more microservices, focusing on delivering reliable, clean, and efficient code with automated testing.
The position requires maximizing velocity by minimizing technical debt and internal dependencies.
You will assist with prototyping, identifying key technical risks, and validating ideas quickly and accurately.
There is an opportunity to mentor junior team members as the Engineering team grows.
Requirements:
Essential requirements include professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript, extensive experience building functional, complex web-based digital products, and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates should have cloud expertise, preferably with AWS or Heroku, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working in cross-functional squads are necessary.
A self-starter attitude with a track record of taking ownership and working autonomously is essential.
Candidates should be highly motivated, resilient, and optimistic, with the ability to thrive in evolving or ambiguous situations.
Desirable qualifications include familiarity with NestJS and RabbitMQ, a passion for developing SaaS products or prior experience with B2B SaaS, and a background in HR tech or familiarity with HR-related products and tools.
Previous experience in a startup environment and experience with microservice architectures in high-availability environments are also desirable.
