Description:

  • The Senior Backend Engineer will join the Workflows squad at Customer.io, playing a pivotal role in developing the backbone of the customer engagement platform.
  • This position involves directly contributing to core features that help businesses create meaningful conversations at scale.
  • The engineer will tackle complex problems related to scalability, data processing, and high availability.
  • Collaboration with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers is essential to deliver features that enhance user satisfaction.
  • The role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the world, within a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance.
  • Responsibilities include designing and implementing robust services in Go, improving data handling and storage solutions, and addressing performance bottlenecks in current systems.
  • The engineer will guide other engineers, promoting best practices in software development and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have preferably 7+ years of backend development experience, with a proven track record in developing high-performance, scalable, distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Go is required, along with experience in cloud infrastructure services and building cloud-native applications.
  • Solid experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL, is necessary, including the ability to write optimized queries and design effective database schemas.
  • The candidate must be capable of diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues and committed to improving existing systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit are essential, as well as comfort in working within a distributed team environment and engaging with various stakeholders.
  • Candidates must be able to work within North/South American time zones.
