Description:

Base is seeking a Senior Blockchain Security Engineer to join their Protocol Security team, which ensures the security of all onchain development at Coinbase.
The role involves performing threat modeling and security assessments of blockchain products and services.
Responsibilities include proposing, planning, and executing Red Team operations based on realistic threats.
The engineer will write detailed reports covering the goals and outcomes of Red Team operations, including significant observations and recommendations.
Collaboration with partner teams to improve detection and response capabilities is essential.
The position requires providing expert technical guidance in building new security frameworks and analysis tools.
Staying informed on current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research is also a key duty.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have at least 3 years of blockchain security experience.
A minimum of 3 years of Red Team experience is necessary, with a proven track record of breaking complex systems using novel techniques.
Applicants should have a history of identifying critical vulnerabilities across the blockchain protocol stack, including both onchain and offchain components.
Extensive knowledge of the blockchain ecosystem, including the workings of L1 and L2 networks, DeFi protocols, and native staking, is required.
Expertise in designing robust security countermeasures to prevent known and anticipated vulnerabilities is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate energy and self-drive for continuous learning in the rapidly changing crypto space.
Excellent communication skills, both clear and kind, with technical and non-technical stakeholders are necessary.
Experience in building relationships with product, engineering, and other security teams is required.

The position offers a target annual salary range of $180,625 to $212,500 USD, depending on work location.
