Remote Senior COBOL Engineer

Description:

• DEPT® Argentina is seeking a Senior COBOL Engineer for a freelance opportunity requiring full-time availability for approximately 3 months.
• The role involves developing complex applications that will have a significant impact and be seen by millions of users.
• The candidate will be expected to have expertise in COBOL and participate in agile software development practices, including peer and code reviews.
• The position includes approximately 80% hands-on development and 20% client interaction and documentation.

Requirements:

• The candidate must be comfortable using English daily, with at least an upper intermediate oral level.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working with COBOL is required, along with familiarity with another programming language such as C, Visual Basic, or Java.
• The candidate should have experience writing software used by a large number of people.
• A good understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies is necessary.
• Experience with version control, preferably using git, is required.
• The candidate should have prior experience with agile software processes.
• Experience with PeopleSoft integrations is a plus.
• The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver who is willing to take initiative and enjoys client interaction, with the ability to distill technical information for various business roles.
