Description:
Liferaft is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Data Acquisition Engineer to enhance their open source data collection capabilities.
This position is remote and available only for candidates in EDT or ADT time zones within Canada.
The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering leadership and core product engineering teams to create new data integrations and improve existing ones.
Responsibilities include working with the Manager of Data Acquisition and the product team to create new data source integrations.
The engineer will design and build a next-generation data integration platform to support various threat detection intelligence use cases.
They will develop and implement new API extraction methods to enhance the efficiency of engineering teams.
Continuous analysis and optimization of existing data sources will be required to ensure complete coverage with minimal latency.
The role involves evaluating and proposing new technologies and methodologies to align with industry best practices.
The engineer will leverage agile practices to encourage collaboration and rapid development.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, or PHP, focusing on third-party API integrations.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with MySQL is required, along with a deep understanding of database schema design, analytics, and data modeling.
At least 3 years of experience with ElasticSearch or similar technologies is necessary.
Experience with both structured and unstructured data is required.
Familiarity with messaging/event solutions like Kafka or RabbitMQ is essential.
The ideal candidate should be a creative problem solver who works well in a team and has a passion for lifelong learning.
A strong love for data is essential.
Candidates must possess strong presentation and communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
