Description:

  • Kickstarter is seeking an experienced Senior Data & Analytics Engineer II to join the Insights team.
  • The role involves modernizing the data stack, building scalable and cost-efficient pipelines, and enabling deeper insights across the organization.
  • Responsibilities include developing and improving Kickstarter’s data architecture, optimizing the Redshift warehouse, and implementing best practices for data storage, processing, and orchestration.
  • The engineer will design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to transform raw data into clean datasets for analytics, product insights, and machine learning applications.
  • Enhancing data accessibility and self-service analytics by improving Looker models and promoting organizational data literacy is also a key responsibility.
  • The role supports real-time data needs by optimizing event-based telemetry and integrating new data streams for various applications.
  • Cost optimization efforts will be led by identifying and implementing more efficient processes and tools.
  • The engineer will drive data governance and security best practices to ensure data integrity and proper lineage tracking.
  • Collaboration across teams is essential to align data solutions with product, growth, and business intelligence needs.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong experience with cloud-based data warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery, along with query performance optimization, is required.
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and data transformation frameworks like dbt is necessary.
  • Experience in building scalable data pipelines with modern orchestration tools such as Airflow, MWAA, or Dagster is essential.
  • Knowledge of real-time streaming architectures like Kafka or Kinesis and event-based telemetry best practices is required.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools, particularly Looker, and enabling self-serve analytics is necessary.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to drive cost-efficient and scalable data solutions while balancing performance with resource management.
  • Familiarity with machine learning operations (MLOps) and experimentation tooling is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
