Description:

  • Modernizing Medicine is seeking a Senior Data Engineer 1 to help revolutionize Healthcare IT.
  • The role involves developing and maintaining data pipelines with high reliability and efficiency.
  • The engineer will guide data infrastructure design and develop proof of concepts for recommended solutions.
  • Responsibilities include liaising with engineering and product teams to assist the Research team in developing new data products.
  • The position requires maintaining documentation for the Data Warehouse and other data products.
  • The engineer will design, develop, QA, and maintain code related to data engineering.
  • The role includes providing thought leadership and dependable execution on diverse projects.
  • The engineer will guide other data engineers in applying best practices and meeting their deliverables.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases is essential; exposure to non-relational databases is a plus.
  • A deep understanding and prior experience with Spark/pySpark is necessary.
  • Candidates should have an understanding of data warehouse table design, including star schemas.
  • Previous experience in architecting and building data pipelines from both 1st party and 3rd party data sources is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, proactivity, and a willingness to take ownership are essential.
  • A strong commitment to quality, architecture, and documentation is expected.
  • Experience using AWS cloud services (S3, Athena, EMR, Kinesis) is required.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline technologies such as Airflow or Luigi is a plus.
  • Experience with Kafka streaming and business intelligence tools (Tableau, Qlik) is advantageous.
  • Experience with Databricks/DBT is also a plus.
