Remote Senior Data Engineer

Description:

• Thrive Market is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team.
• The role involves building high-impact products alongside the Data Strategy Team.
• The engineer will work on structured, semi-structured, and complex data processing and streaming frameworks.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with Finance and Accounting teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• The engineer will lead the development of a specialized Operational Data Store (ODS) that integrates with NetSuite for a SOX-compliant automated order-to-cash process.
• The position requires taking ownership of the entire data services lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data profiling, data ingestion, ETL development, and validation of data products.
• The engineer will architect data modeling and ETL processes to ensure accurate and timely data transformation with clear audit logs.
• The role includes developing a comprehensive understanding of cross-system integration and future data needs.
• The engineer will troubleshoot and resolve production data integrity and performance issues.
• The position requires working across multiple projects to deliver cohesive data engineering solutions in partnership with various functional teams.
• The engineer will recommend and ensure technical functionality for Data Engineering, including scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
• The role involves applying enterprise and solution architecture decisions to data architecture frameworks and models.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles within the retail industry.
• A strong understanding of retail operations, including inventory management, logistics, revenue recognition, and customer behavior is required.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience in writing complex queries for data transformation and reporting are necessary.
• Experience using DBT to transform and model data in various Cloud Data Warehouses is required.
• Solid programming skills in Python for data processing, automation, and integration tasks are essential.
• Expertise in Snowflake data warehouse architecture, including performance tuning and optimization, is required.
• In-depth knowledge of data architecture patterns and implementation approaches for Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses, Data Marts, and Data Lakes is necessary.
• Strong proficiency with integration tools and platforms such as Apache Airflow, Fivetran, and message queuing systems is required.
• Proficiency in logical/physical data architecture, design, and development is necessary.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required, particularly in navigating loosely defined issues.
• Strong data sense with the ability to identify and query errors in mission-critical data systems is essential.
• Candidates should be adept at gathering and managing requirements in an Agile delivery environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels are necessary.
