Description:
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for expanding and optimizing data and data pipeline architecture.
This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning data flows used in the collection, integration, and provisioning of data.
The position requires experience in building data pipelines and optimizing entire data systems, including greenfield opportunities.
The Senior Data Engineer collaborates with software development teams, database architects, data analysts, and end users on complex data initiatives.
This role ensures that the data delivery architecture aligns with best practices.
The Senior Data Engineer oversees the development of junior team members through mentorship, training, guidance, and direct management.
Contributions to data architecture and technology roadmaps to support strategic growth and team development are expected.
Preferred locations include Western states, the Midwest, or remote.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7 or more years of Data Engineering experience in an oversight capacity.
Extensive domain-specific experience in the Financial Services industry is required.
Experience with Microsoft cloud-based technologies in a hybrid architecture is necessary.
Advanced working knowledge of TSQL and experience with relational databases, query authoring, stored procedure development, and end-to-end data pipeline development are essential.
Candidates should have experience performing operational analysis on internal and external data and processes to identify failure points and improvement opportunities.
Strong analytic skills related to complex, multi-layered data pipelines and dependent datasets are required.
A holistic awareness of processes supporting data preparation, metadata, dependencies, lineages, compliance, and workload management is necessary.
Understanding of data modeling concepts, including conceptual, logical, relational, and dimensional data modeling, is required.
Familiarity with meta-model and metadata management requirements is essential.
Specific skills include extensive experience with SQL-based syntax, designing and implementing data structures and interfaces, and experience with relational database platforms, preferably MS SQLServer.
Experience with data pipeline tools such as SSIS, orchestration tools like ActiveBatch, web services and API integrations, and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell is required.
Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and DataOps methods and technologies is necessary.
Knowledge of data visualization technologies such as Tableau and PowerBI is preferred.
