Description:

  • Carwow Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their remote team in the UK, Germany, Portugal, or Spain.
  • The mission of Carwow is to become the go-to destination for car-changing, providing reliable and actionable data to empower decision-making.
  • The role involves leading the design, development, and maintenance of robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Responsibilities include writing, optimizing, and reviewing advanced SQL queries, implementing sophisticated data workflows using Airflow, and designing data models and warehouses using Snowflake.
  • The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand complex data requirements and ensure high data quality and integrity.
  • Continuous improvement of data engineering processes and infrastructure is also a key responsibility.
  • The engineering team is supported by Engineering Managers who assist with career progression and team performance.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in software or data engineering, preferably in a senior or lead role, is required.
  • Proficiency in writing Python and SQL is essential.
  • Extensive experience in building and optimizing complex ETL/ELT data pipelines is necessary.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools like dbt is preferred.
  • Experience managing and optimizing script dependencies with tools like Airflow is required.
  • Substantial experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses using Snowflake or similar technologies is necessary.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring junior data engineers is important.
  • Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of data engineering practices within the organization is required.
  • Nice to have: experience with Terraform, Ruby, data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), Amplitude, DevOps, Heroku, Kafka, AWS/GCP, etc.
