Description:
Carwow Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their remote team in the UK, Germany, Portugal, or Spain.
The mission of Carwow is to become the go-to destination for car-changing, providing reliable and actionable data to empower decision-making.
The role involves leading the design, development, and maintenance of robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.
Responsibilities include writing, optimizing, and reviewing advanced SQL queries, implementing sophisticated data workflows using Airflow, and designing data models and warehouses using Snowflake.
The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand complex data requirements and ensure high data quality and integrity.
Continuous improvement of data engineering processes and infrastructure is also a key responsibility.
The engineering team is supported by Engineering Managers who assist with career progression and team performance.
Requirements:
Significant experience in software or data engineering, preferably in a senior or lead role, is required.
Proficiency in writing Python and SQL is essential.
Extensive experience in building and optimizing complex ETL/ELT data pipelines is necessary.
Familiarity with data transformation tools like dbt is preferred.
Experience managing and optimizing script dependencies with tools like Airflow is required.
Substantial experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses using Snowflake or similar technologies is necessary.
Experience in leading and mentoring junior data engineers is important.
Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of data engineering practices within the organization is required.
Nice to have: experience with Terraform, Ruby, data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), Amplitude, DevOps, Heroku, Kafka, AWS/GCP, etc.
