FusionHit is seeking a Data Engineer to join their fast-paced, data-driven team.
The role involves designing, building, and tuning scalable data pipelines using PySpark within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
Responsibilities include creating new pipelines and improving existing ones to deliver high-quality data for business decisions.
The client operates in the retail sector, utilizing advanced analytics and AI to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.
This position supports Vertex AI-powered ML workflows and real-time analytics using BigQuery and Dataform.
The project focuses on large-scale data processing, building cloud-native pipelines, and supporting ML workflows through GCP technologies.
Candidates must reside and have work authorization in Latin America and be available to work with significant overlap with Central Time.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 4-6 years of experience in a data engineering or similar role.
Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly with BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Dataform is required.
Deep experience in writing and tuning Spark jobs using PySpark is essential.
Proven ability to build and maintain scalable, cloud-native data pipelines is necessary.
Understanding of how to support machine learning workflows via data pipelines is required.
Strong SQL skills and familiarity with BigQuery analytics (25% of the workload) are needed.
Excellent collaboration skills with experience working with both technical teams and stakeholders are important.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills in English (C1 preferred, strong B2 may be considered).
Experience with Scala and the Akka toolkit is a nice to have.
Familiarity with React is optional, as no frontend work is expected.
Previous experience in the retail industry is a plus but not required.
