Description:
Cylinder is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to enhance the reusability, scalability, and efficiency of data engineering processes and infrastructure.
The role involves addressing challenging data ingestion, ETL/ELT, and access issues, designing and expanding data pipelines, and implementing data quality controls.
Responsibilities include automating ETL/ELT pipelines, optimizing data warehouse schemas, establishing CI/CD pipelines, ensuring data quality, and designing cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud.
The position also involves mentoring junior data engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and promoting best practices in coding and data management.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about software development, collaborative, empathetic towards members' health conditions, security-oriented, and comfortable with a distributed workforce.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in designing and implementing automated data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, databases, and workflow engines.
Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) frameworks like BigQuery, Vertex AI Platform, IAM, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Composer/Airflow, and DLP.
Experience with DBT or similar data transformation frameworks, expert proficiency in SQL & Python, and software engineering principles.
Demonstrated experience in optimizing data warehouse pipelines, analyzing system performance, and excellent communication skills.
Bonus qualifications include experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code frameworks, medical/healthcare data experience, HIPAA compliance knowledge, and an advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
