Description:
Carwow Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their remote team in the UK, Germany, Portugal, or Spain.
The mission of Carwow is to become the go-to destination for car-changing, providing a reliable platform for customers to buy and sell cars.
The engineering team focuses on empowering all Carwow teams with access to reliable, actionable data to enable informed decision-making.
The role involves building ETL pipelines in Python and SQL, automating workflows with Airflow, and managing data ingestion into a Snowflake warehouse.
The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL, hosted on Heroku, with a focus on team involvement in code deployment and production management.
The position offers support from an Engineering Manager for career progression and team performance improvement.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and maintenance of ETL/ELT data pipelines, writing and optimizing SQL queries, managing data workflows, and ensuring data quality and security.
Requirements:
Candidates should have significant experience in software or data engineering, ideally in a senior or lead role.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
Extensive experience in building and optimizing complex ETL/ELT data pipelines is required.
Familiarity with data transformation tools like dbt is preferred.
Experience in managing script dependencies with tools like Airflow is necessary.
Candidates should have substantial experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses using Snowflake or similar technologies.
Experience in leading and mentoring junior data engineers is important.
Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of data engineering practices within the organization is required.
Nice to have: experience with Terraform, Ruby, data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), Amplitude, DevOps, Heroku, Kafka, AWS/GCP, etc.
