Description:
The Senior Data Engineer will lead efforts to leverage data for maximum value at Dwolla, which processes billions in payments monthly.
This role involves developing and executing a technical vision for AWS-based data pipelines and supporting new product offerings and business intelligence development.
The engineer will ensure deployed systems maintain required performance levels.
Responsibilities include writing code to build and grow the Dwolla data lake and data pipelines, defining and implementing DataOps methodologies, optimizing queries and reports, and monitoring existing databases.
The position requires collaboration within a diverse engineering team and proactive communication with leadership regarding roadblocks.
The engineer should have experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD systems like Terraform, Troposphere, CloudFormation, and Jenkins.
The role is expected to involve 50% coding, 20% defining DataOps methodologies, 20% optimizing queries, and 10% supporting existing databases.
Requirements:
Candidates should be driven self-starters who stay updated on industry trends and seek to enhance their knowledge.
A blend of DataLake-related technologies in AWS, such as Redshift, Glue, Athena, and S3, is preferred.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, and a software engineering background is beneficial.
Experience with AI tools for process streamlining is desired.
Candidates should have experience implementing AWS technologies for building data pipelines and executing ETL jobs.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code methodologies, distributed computing technologies like Spark, and optimizing SQL queries for performance is required.
Experience with AWS database solutions such as RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift is preferred.
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and communication abilities are necessary.
Typically, 5+ years of experience in a closely-related role is required, with education and certifications valued.
